Letters = Cash Money

I loved college…actually, I loved JuCo (junior college).  One of the amazing things about the JuCo experience was that class wasn’t taught by a teaching assistant or junior professor.  In my experience, it was a better education.  If only school were about education….sigh.

Anyway, one of my English professors would take us through a story and then provide his commentary or ask for ours.’  I wanna do that.  I’m going to tell you a story and then from time to time, we’re stop and talk a bit about what is going on in the story.  How collegiate of us.

I wanna tell you a story about a client.  Let’s call her Jane.  Jane wants to look better naked.  So what does she do?  She joins a gym.  She’s serious though and wants to do everything she can to lose the weight.  So, she hires a trainer.  She hires the best trainer.  The most educated trainer.  This guy isn’t just a beefcake.  He’s also a braniac.  He’s a PRO-fessional.  Let’s call him Dick.

As a professional, Dick has collected just about every certification imaginable.  After all, that’s what professionals do.  They collect.  Good job, Dick….and herein begins the trouble with Dick and Jane.

One of the latest certifications he collected is all about making assessments through the performance of a movement screen.  Why did he get this certification?

Screens are a great business tool.  You show a client what their problem is that they didn’t even know they had.  You let them know that if they DON’T address it now, they’ll have problems in the future…and if they DO address it now, they can reach their goals even safer and maybe even faster.

That’s a powerful marketing message.  You can sell it to clients.  You can sell it to trainers.

I like it.  I use it with our system.  I use it because I believe it.  I believe it because it’s true…for our system.

Is it true for other systems?

Stay tuned for Part III
